What we check, and why it matters

The checker looks through your website the way a customer (and Google) does: your home page first, then up to 11 more pages it finds, such as your contact and services pages. The checks are grouped into three areas.

Can customers use it?

  • Loads, and quickly. People searching on mobile data give up on slow sites within seconds.
  • Secure padlock (https). Without it, browsers show “Not secure” next to your address.
  • Built for phones. Most people look up a garage on their phone. If they have to pinch and zoom, they’ll ring someone else.
  • Tap-to-call. Your number as a button, so ringing you is one tap.

Does it answer their questions?

  • Opening hours. “Are you open Saturday?” is one of the most common calls garages get.
  • A way to book or enquire. A booking request catches customers looking at 9pm who won’t ring until morning.
  • Reviews. Showing or linking your Google reviews builds trust before someone picks up the phone.
  • Looks up to date. An old copyright year makes people wonder if you’re still trading.

Can Google understand it?

  • A clear page title and description. What Google shows when someone searches for you.
  • Business details in Google’s format. Helps you appear correctly in local search and on Maps.

Is it really free?

Yes. There’s no sign-up and no card, and we don’t store the results. It checks your whole website (your home page and up to 11 more pages it finds), so a booking form on a separate contact page is picked up too.

Does a high score mean I’ll be top of Google?

No, and nobody can promise that. The checks cover the basics that help customers and Google; your Google Business Profile, reviews and where you are matter too.

Can you fix what’s missing?

Yes. Every Powell Hosts website is built around these checks, from £15 a month with no minimum term. If you’d rather keep your current website, ask us about looking after it for you.
